Building on the successful 2022 Resurgence Grant, this grant will provide support for small businesses to help move them to their next level of capacity with more sophisticated assistance such as e-commerce or consultant services as well as expand the current façade grant program to a larger area which will cover a greater number of women-owned, minority-owned, and immigrant-owned businesses.
Facade Grant
With the generous support of a Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) Resurgence Grant, the City of Waynesboro / Grow Waynesboro is able to offer a matching façade grant for businesses (nonprofits included) located in the city’s census tracts 31 and 32 (portions of downtown, and designated areas south of I-64 and east of the South River). Please confirm that your business location is in this area using the overview map, detailed downtown map or email your address to staff@waynesborobusiness.com for confirmation. This grant opportunity is limited to this area of the city due to grant specifications and economic metrics determined by DHCD.
This application is for a façade grant and is due by NOON on March 11, 2024. Projects selected to receive the façade grant will be notified by March 20, 2024 and all work must be completed by September 30, 2024.
This is a reimbursable matching grant.
Businesses located in the enterprise sub zone (downtown) are eligible for a matching grant of up to 75% of the project cost up to a grant of $7,500. For example, if the total project cost is $10,000 the grant would be $7,500. If the project cost is $8,000 the grant would be $6,000. If the project is $20,000 the grant would be $7,500.
Businesses located in the resurgence grant focus area but not in the enterprise sub zone are eligible for a matching grant of up to 50% of the project cost up to a grant of $5,000. For example, if the total project cost is $10,000 the grant would be $5,000. If the project cost is $8,000 the grant would be $4,000. If the project is $20,000 the grant would be $5,000.

Small Business Services
With the generous support of a Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) Resurgence Grant, the City of Waynesboro / Grow Waynesboro is able to offer small business grant assistance for business services to existing for-profit businesses within the city of Waynesboro to enhance capacity.
Small business grant applications are due by NOON on December 20, 2023. Projects selected to receive the grant will be notified by January 5, 2024. Grant recipients will be contacted by our Small Business Specialist to discuss the project in detail, develop a scope of work, and select a vendor. The project must be completed by September 30, 2024.
The maximum grant amount is $10,000 per business but will be predicated on the number of applicants and type of assistance requested.
This is a reimbursable grant, up to the grant award amount for an approved project and vendor.
