We’re giving away start-up grants of up to $10,000 to new Waynesboro businesses! Between now and May 22nd, we’re hoping to hear your ideas for launching your dream business. Once your ideas are in, our 8-week business planning class will help you develop marketing plans, create cash flow projections, launch legal business entities, and finalize your operational business plans.
We’ve outlined the full timelime for the Grow Waynesboro training and business plan presentation schedule below.
Initial Application Deadline – May 22, 2018
If you have an amazing idea for a new local business in Waynesboro, now is the time to tell us! Our online application portal will ask a few questions so we can get to know you, and then accepted applicants will be enrolled in our 8-week business planning course. Both the application and the business planning class are necessary steps for entrepreneurs applying for local start-up grants of up to $10,000, so we must hear from you by May 22, 2018.
Required 8-Week Business Planning Course
Our expert-led business planning course will meet on Tuesday evenings beginning June 5th and ending July 31. Because of the July 4th holiday, we will not hold class on July 3rd. We’ll cover topics such as writing a business plan, marketing, pricing, break-even analysis, cash flow projections, profit and loss financials, local ordinances, and launching your new business. All local entrepreneurs competing for up to $10,000 in start-up grants are required to complete this course and submit a final business plan.
Pitching Your Business Plan Workshop — Tuesday, August 28th
Writing a business plan is key to preparing for business success, but learning how to explain it to others will help you market your business and build excitement for its launch. Plus, this optional workshop will help local entrepreneurs prepare for Pitch Night, where Grow Waynesboro finalists will present their business concepts to local judges for start-up grant awards.
Grow Waynesboro Finalists: Pitch Night — Thursday, September 6th
Your business plan is polished, and we are ready to award start-up grants to new businesses in Waynesboro. Finalists are invited to present their business plan live to a community of friends, neighbors and judges. Final grant award winners will be announced that evening.
And the Doors Swing Open – March 31, 2019
